The Pool Room

International Design & Architecture Awards

We are delighted to announce that the Payton Williams Pool Room project has been shortlisted for The International Design & Architecture Awards 2020.

The design brief for this project was a little challenging due to the size of the space. The room was pretty much in its original form from when the property was first built in the 1980’s. Although impressive, as a leisure space with a swimming pool, it really didn’t felt connected to the main house and the outdoor space.

Our brief was to completely transform the space by designing a scheme that would both unify the property and retain ‘separation’. We needed to ensure the space felt different, a place where the owners could retreat to, to relax or enjoy some leisure time.

Both structural and interior design changes needed to be made not only to improve the overall look, but to also give the client the additional functionality and facilities they required.

To ensure the project was delivered with impact and provide a focal point which would hang the design together, we created a bespoke, curved feature wall, which was given a charming aquatic theme.

We look forward to a follow up announcement being made soon.
